Inventory accuracy measures how closely the stock recorded in the [Warehouse Management System (WMS)](https://bitergo.com/en/glossary/warehouse-management-system-wms) matches the actual physical inventory. It is one of the most fundamental KPIs in a warehouse, as nearly all processes rely on accurate inventory data.   ### How is Inventory Accuracy calculated? Formula:  (Accurate inventory records ÷ checked inventory items) × 100 Example:  During a stock audit, 1,000 items are checked, of which 980 match.   → Inventory accuracy = **98%**    ### What is a good Value? - **> 99%** → Best-in-class - **97–99%** → acceptable - **< 97%** → critical   ### Why is this KPI so important? Low inventory accuracy leads to: - stockouts despite available inventory - incorrect ordering decisions - delivery delays - revenue loss 👉 It is the foundation for planning, replenishment, and fulfillment.   ### Typical Causes of Discrepancies - posting errors in the WMS - lack of scanning processes - incorrect storage location assignment - theft or damage - manual interventions   ### How can Inventory Accuracy be improved? 1.
