Item

An item is a specific unit or quantity of a product or goods that is available in the warehouse and has a unique identifier (item number) for identification. An item can also contain various additional information, such as an item description, item unit (e.g. pallet, piece, box), price and manufacturer information, stock quantity, storage location, etc.. 

The management and maintenance of item master data is essential to ensure smooth and efficient warehouse processes. Electronic systems, such as the use of digital warehouse management in conjunction with mobile devices (barcode scanners) or RFID (radio frequency identification) solutions, make it possible to monitor and optimize these processes at all times.
