Barcode Scanner

Barcode scanners are electronic devices that are used for automated data capture. They read barcodes from products or labels and convert the information they contain into machine-readable data, which they then transfer to a computer, for example.

There are different types of barcode scanners, e.g. handheld scanners, portable scanners or stationary scanners.

Barcode scanners are often used in warehouses, distribution centres and retail shops to simplify inventory management and sales transactions.

Barcode scanners can be used to read data quickly and accurately. This speeds up logistical processes and reduces error rates.

In warehouse management, barcode scanners can be used to record stocks very quickly and accurately, book incoming or outgoing goods or transfer pallets. The data is transferred directly to the higher-level warehouse management system and is visible to everyone involved.

Barcode scanners also play a major role in the traceability of products in the supply chain, especially when monitoring batches and expiry dates.
