App

App is short for "application" and means "application software". In most cases, this refers to mobile apps (for cell phones, tablets, etc.), while applications for PCs are usually called "programs" or "software". 

Examples of mobile apps include social media applications such as Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, weather and news apps, e-learning apps, fitness and nutrition apps, apps from the world of gastronomy and culture as well as from the world of finance. Numerous e-commerce retailers and travel portals also provide their customers and users with apps.

The web apps are intended for use on a stationary PC, while the mobile apps are operated by employees in the warehouse on mobile handheld devices.
