The layout of the mobile apps
The mobile apps are native Android developments and run on devices with an Android version released for mobile apps. Android devices, also referred to as handhelds, are usually equipped with a large touch display and can be operated directly with your fingers or a suitable stylus.
Basic structure
After opening the app, the connection to the server is established. If no server has been defined yet, the user is prompted to specify the server. The first time you start the app, you will be asked for the address of the server! Tap on the QR code symbol and scan your personal QR code from your customer center. Alternatively, you can also enter the server URL and your user data manually using the keyboard.
The on-screen keyboard is automatically displayed as the input medium. If the device is equipped with an external keyboard, this on-screen keyboard may not be displayed.
The input is confirmed with OK and the application attempts to establish a connection. It is not possible to use the mobile apps without a connection. No data is stored locally on the device.
One-time login for the mobile apps
If several mobile apps are used on one device, the server selection and login is only required once for all mobile apps on one device.
Start screen
After the above steps, the start screen of the mobile app appears. All areas of the mobile app can be accessed directly from this start screen:
In the header you can see the name of the app (1) . The burger menu (4) on the right gives you access to different settings. The main display area (2) shows, depending on the mobile app:
- Icon or start screen of the mobile app
- Important direct selections (here selection of the storage bin of the goods receipt)
- Overview data for further work with the mobile app and
- Large functional areas implemented as buttons (3).
Settings-Screen
By taping on the burger menu, you can reach the settings screen.
The following functions are available in this menu:
- Logout function for logging out of all mobile apps on the respective device
- imprint and
- Settings
The settings contain administrative setting options for the mobile app. In particular, the user can change the selected server (1) by tapping on the field. The input dialog for the server URL appears.
Other typical settings that can be adjusted here are the device settings or display options.
Used Icons and Symbols
Within the mobile apps, various symbols are used to trigger certain functions:
These symbols can be seen on the right, next to input fields, for example, and provide operating assistance or replace the manual input through the keyboard:
The Back Arrow brings you to the previous screen
The magnifying glass opens a search dialog. A filter can usually be set in the search dialog via the additional menu. The selection is then transferred to the field.
A selection list in form of a dropdown menu appears for input and an element can be selected. In contrast to the magnifying glass function, the selection is limited to a few elements.
Selection of a calendar date via a calendar dialog. However, it is still possible to enter the date manually at any time.
A selection list is offered for input. The selected element is also accepted. A comma-separated list of elements appears in the input field.
The Scan icon opens the integrated Camera of the handheld device and let´s you scan a code. Incase you are using a handheld device with an integrated barcode scanner, please deactivate the camera-function in the settings screen, which is available via the burger icon in the header.
The Refresh-Icon triggers a new readout of the data from the server and updates the shown data on the screen. In list displays, the list can also be scrolled up or down beyond the limit of the list.
The Burger Icon opens a additional menu in a screen for specific special functions for the selected screen.
Special Functions
Camera as barcode scanner
The integrated handheld device camera can be used as a barcode scanner. If you press the scan symbol in an input field, the camera image appears with a green frame:
The 2-dimensional barcode must be placed on the “green line” and is then very quickly recognizedby the camera. We recommend practicing the process, as it is very easy to scan an incorrect barcode.
Switching between mobile apps
If several Bitergo WMS mobile apps have been installed on the handheld, it is very easy to switch between them. Swipe sideways (to the right or left) with two fingers (multi-touch gesture) to switch between the apps. This makes it easy to switch at any time.
Alternatively, the native Android operating system functions can of course also be used to switch apps.
