Software as a Service (SaaS) refers to a cloud-based provision and distribution model for software applications. These are used by customers as a service and provided by external IT service providers. Users can access the applications over the internet, usually via a web browser, without having to install the software on their own computers or servers.

The maintenance, updating and backup of the software is handled entirely by the IT providers, giving users a simple and cost-effective way to access powerful applications without having to worry about the complex infrastructure behind them.

SaaS solutions offer numerous other advantages, including flexible billing on demand, as users often only pay for the functions they actually use or the number of users. SaaS also enables easy scalability, as companies can expand or reduce their use of the software as required.

An example of a SaaS application for warehouse management is the Bitergo WMS - Warehouse Star.
