Contract logistics

Contract logistics refers to a business model in the context of supply chain management. It involves a long-term collaboration between a retailer or manufacturer of goods and a logistics service provider, governed by a service contract. The object of the service contract is usually not individual services such as the transport or storage of goods, but complex service packages with a high degree of customization. The logistics service provider often also provides additional non-logistical services (e.g. assembly work, quality checks, etc.).
