Carrier Route Master Data
Introduction
The Master Data Web App is used to create and configure all the master data required to use Bitergo WMS in your warehouse. The correct setup and maintenance of these master data is essential for the successful and smooth operation of the Bitergo Warehouse Management System (WMS).
Note:
During the initial setup of Bitergo WMS -- Warehouse Star, you must follow a specific order when creating the various master data records. Please refer to the guide "Setting Up Your Warehouse" for more information.
The Master Data app uses the standard Bitergo WMS web app user interface (UI). For details, see the "User Interface and User Experience" document.
The menu icon on the right side of the header gives you access to the following general functions:
On the left side is the navigation panel, where you can select the various categories of master data to view and edit in the main workspace of the screen.
In the center is the main workspace, where the data corresponding to the category selected in the navigation bar is displayed in tabular form. Below the table are the function buttons that trigger specific actions related to all displayed data and/or only to selected rows.
To the right of the table is the preview area. This area displays all detailed information for an element selected in the main workspace; in most cases, this is a selected row in the table.
The following master data types can be set up and maintained in the Master Data app:
To select a master data type and view the corresponding data, you must select the desired type in the navigation.
Item master data is the basic master data for an item.
This includes, for example:
Product master data can be imported via an Excel or .csv file or synchronized directly with an ERP system via an interface. The Bitergo WMS Free Version does not include free setup of interfaces to other systems; please contact the Bitergo Support Team if needed.
The table displays all items stocked in the warehouse.
Each row contains all the information about an item, organized across different columns.
You can define which columns are displayed in the table using the settings icon (gear) in the upper-right corner above the table. You can apply filters using the filter icon in the upper-left corner above the table to display only specific items. You can also create and save different table layouts. For more information, see the chapter on User Interface and User Experience.
Click on a row to select an item:
Below the product master data table, you'll find the following function buttons:
Some function buttons are only active when an item is selected.
"Print..." triggers label printing for the selected item.
Clicking this opens a dialog box where you must enter the number of labels. Click in the "Quantity" field and enter a number. Printing is done via the label printer selected in the general app menu (header).
Click "OK" to print the label or "Cancel" to cancel the print job.
If a printer is selected in the main menu, the label will be printed using that printer.
If no printer is selected, a warning message appears prompting you to select a printer from the menu: Click the menu icon in the header and select "Settings" from the drop-down menu. In the following dialog box, you can select a connected label printer using the "Label Printer" field or choose the "Download PDF" option. Select a label printer or the "Download PDF" option and confirm with "OK." Alternatively, you can cancel the printer selection by clicking the "Cancel" button.
After closing the dialog box, click "Print..." again to print the label(s). If you have selected "Download PDF" from the menu, a dialog box will open where you can choose the location to save the PDF. Click "OK" or "Save" to save the label(s) as a PDF.
The "Edit classifications..." function button allows you to create and select item master data classifications. These classifications affect parameters and processes in Bitergo WMS and cannot be set up without the assistance of the Bitergo WMS Support Team. Please contact the Bitergo Support Team if necessary.
Clicking the "Edit classifications..." function button opens the "Classifications" dialog box. On the left side of the dialog box is a table listing the existing classifications. The table consists of two columns: The first column displays the "Type," and the second displays the "Code." Each row represents a classification, as a classification always consists of a "Type" and a "Code." The "Code" is the name of the classification, and the "Type" is a group of one or more "Codes." The name or "Code" must always be unique within a "Type," meaning each "Code" must have a different name.
On the right side of the dialog box, there are two sections one below the other. The upper section, "Types," contains two buttons for creating ("New...") and deleting "Types." The lower section is called "Classifications" and contains three buttons for creating ("New..."), editing (Edit..."), and deleting ("Delete...") Classifications....
You can create a new "Type" using the "New..." button. After clicking "New...," the "Save Classification Type" dialog box opens, displaying the "Name*" field and the "OK" and "Cancel" buttons. Enter the name for the new "Type" here. Clicking "OK" creates the new type; clicking "Cancel" cancels the operation.
The "Classifications" button allows you to create a new classification for a previously created "Type." After clicking "New...," the "Save Classification" dialog box opens, displaying the "Type*" drop-down menu, the "Code*" field, and the "OK" and "Cancel" buttons. In the "Type*" drop-down menu, you can select a previously created classification type. You can then enter the name for the "Classification" in the "Code" field. Clicking "OK" creates the new classification; clicking "Cancel" cancels the operation. After confirming with "OK," the dialog box closes, and a new row appears in the table on the left-hand side with the newly created "Classification."
The "Classifications" dialog box can be closed using the "Close" icon in the title bar or by clicking the "Close" button.
The "New..." function button allows you to create a new item with its associated properties. All item master data is defined in this dialog box. All properties defined here will then appear:
After an item's master data has been set via this dialog box or through an import, you can edit it using the "Edit" function button.
Clicking "New..." opens the "New Item Master" dialog box. The upper section of the dialog box contains several tabs that allow you to create the various types of item master data for the new item. The asterisk at the end of a tab's name indicates that the corresponding tab contains fields required for creating a new item. Each tab consists of one or more fields, each representing individual properties that can be defined here.
If not all required fields are filled in, the new item cannot be created. In this case, an error message appears.
You can exit the "New Item Master" dialog box using the "OK" or "Cancel" buttons. Clicking "OK" creates the new item, and clicking "Cancel" exits the dialog box without creating a new item. In this case, all entries are lost.
The "New Item Master" dialog box contains the following tabs:
The following fields/properties are displayed on the "Text/tag*" tab:
(Required field; Type: Number, Text field)
The unique, internal item number.
Note: EAN numbers, etc., can be managed under the "Identifiers" tab.
(Required field; Type: Dropdown menu)
The type of unit of measure in which the item is managed (usually "countable," i.e., the item is managed in "units"). The following options are available here:
(Required field; Type: Text field)
The description is a "descriptive" name for the item. This is the "name" of the item.
(Type: Text field)
A note about the item, such as a description or additional information about the item in text form.
(Type: Drop-down menu)
The unit of measure in which the item is managed by the system. You can select the unit of measure from this dropdown menu; the following options are available:
(Type: Text field)
The number of decimal places used by the system to manage the item. For the unit of measure "piece(s)," this value is "0" (zero), meaning the item is managed without decimal places.
Here, you can select a previously created classification to assign the item to an item class.
These classifications affect parameters and processes in Bitergo WMS and cannot be set up without the assistance of the Bitergo WMS Support Team. Please contact the Bitergo Support Team if necessary.
Clicking the icon to the left of the field opens the "Edit Classification" dialog. The dialog consists of two lists: "Available" on the left and "Chosen" on the right. The left list contains all available "classifications" to choose from, and the right list contains the "classifications" selected for the item. Between the two lists are two buttons with arrows stacked one above the other; the top arrow points to the right and the bottom arrow points to the left. These buttons allow you to assign "classifications" to either the "Available" list on the left or the "Chosen" list on the right. To do this, select a "Classification" by clicking on it and then click the left or right arrow to move it, for example, from "Available" to "Chosen." After clicking the arrow, the "Classification" moves to the selected list and is no longer available in the other list.
You can exit this dialog box using the "OK" or "Cancel" buttons. Clicking "OK" confirms the changes.
If this field is filled in, the item may only be stored in bin locations that correspond to this "warehouse type classification." Clicking the icon opens the "Edit Classifications" dialog, which is described directly above under "Classifications."
Select a previously created warehouse type classification. If this field is filled in, the item will be stored preferentially in bin locations that match this warehouse type classification. Clicking the icon opens the "Edit Classifications" dialog, which is described directly above under "Classifications."
(Type: Drop-down menu)
In this drop-down menu, you can assign the item to Class A, B, or C (according to ABC items).
The following options are available:
Under the "Image" tab, you can upload an image of the item. The item image appears in several places within the Bitergo WMS apps and helps facilitate the identification of the item in the warehouse, e.g., in item lists within the mobile apps.
Clicking the "Select" button opens a file browser. Select the appropriate image and click "OK" to confirm your selection or "Cancel" to cancel the image selection process.
Under the Identifiers tab, you can add additional identifiers for the item. The following options are available:
The Status/Time tab is used to record time-related attributes of the item.
The following fields are available here:
The "Controls" tab is used to manage relevant control flags that must be taken into account during stock placement and removal. The flags can be configured independently of one another.
The following options are available:
The "Size" tab is used to manage the item's dimensions and weights. Each measurement can be specified in a defined unit of measure, which can be selected from a drop-down menu to the right of each field. These attributes are optional; however, if they are specified, the dimensions can be taken into account in the bin assignment strategies, leading to a more efficient result.
Caution: If values are entered for the dimensions that differ from reality, this will lead to incorrect calculations in subsequent processes!...
The following fields are available here:
In the "Loadsupport Type" tab, you can configure settings for the default loading aid (loadsupport) type used for the item. The following fields are available:
The User Area tab is not relevant for the Bitergo WMS Free version; please contact the Bitergo WMS Support Team for further information.
By clicking the "Edit..." function button, you can edit the master data for the selected item. The "Edit Item Master" dialog box opens, which is identical to the "New Item Master" dialog box. All item master data is available for editing here. A detailed description of the item master data can be found in the section "Function: New..."
You can exit the "Edit Item Master" dialog box by clicking the "OK" or "Cancel" buttons. Clicking "OK" saves the changes, and clicking "Cancel" closes the dialog box without saving the changes.
Clicking the "Delete..." function button allows you to delete one or more selected items at the same time. The "Delete" dialog box appears with the message:
"Are you sure you want to delete (number) selected item master(s)?"
To delete one or more items, select the desired item(s) by clicking on them in the table. You can select multiple items at once by holding down the "CTRL" key. Then click the "Delete" button.
By clicking the "Edit Packaging" button, you can assign packaging to an item. First, select the desired item, and then click the "Edit Packaging" button.
The user interface in the main work window will now change, and the interface for editing packaging will appear.
At the very top, under "Current Item Master," you'll see the number of the selected item. Below that are the following three drop-down menus:
Using these drop-down menus, you can assign a predefined packaging to the item as base, sales, or warehouse unit packaging.
Below these fields is a table listing the packaging types assigned to this item. If no packaging has been assigned to the item yet, the table is empty.
To the right of the table are the following function buttons:
The "Edit..." and "Delete..." buttons are only active when a packaging option is selected in the table.
To the left below the table is the "Done" button, which closes the user interface for editing packaging. Clicking "Done" returns you to the table with the item master data.
Clicking the "New..." function button opens the "New Packaging" dialog box for creating a packaging item. The dialog box consists of three tabs:
The "Text/tag" tab contains the following text fields:
The "Base Unit" tab is used to manage quantity-related master data. The "Base unit Capacity" text field can be used to set the number of items contained in the packaging in "units."
As usual, the dimensions and (tare) weight of the packaging are managed under the "Size" tab.
A previously created packaging can be defined as a base, sales, or warehouse unit packaging for the item by selecting it from the corresponding drop-down menu above the table.
The preview area is located on the right side of the user interface. Here, all master data for the selected item is displayed vertically in a list for an overview; this data can be defined using the "New..." and "Edit..." function buttons and is shown in the table columns in the main work area. The order corresponds to the order of the tabs in the aforementioned dialog boxes.
At the very top of the main work window, in the filter area, is the "Show expired BOM " checkbox. If you select this checkbox, expired BOM items will also be displayed.
The following function buttons are located below the table:

Clicking the " New..." button opens the "New Location" dialog box with the following fields:
Clicking "OK" creates the new location; clicking "Cancel" closes the dialog box.
Clicking the "Address/New..." button opens the "Address for Location" dialog box. Here, you can create addresses for the location.
The following fields are available:
Click "OK" to save the address or "Cancel" to cancel the process.
Clicking the "Location/Delete..." button opens the "Delete Location" dialog box. Here, you can select a previously created location from the list and delete it by clicking the "Delete" button.
The "Delete Location" dialog box appears, in which you must confirm the deletion. After a location has been deleted, you can delete additional locations if needed or close the dialog box by clicking "Close."

Loading aids or load supports are used to secure or support the transport and storage of transport units. These include pallets, bins, containers, etc. Each loading aid / load support is assigned to a load suppotz master record (load support master). The load support master describes general properties of the load support, such as dimensions or net weight.
The terms load support, load support master record, and load support type are sometimes used ambiguously: A load support refers to a "real," physically existing loading aid (e.g., a pallet in goods receipt). This is assigned to a load support master record, which describes the general properties and is sometimes also referred to as an load support type. Each load support master record is, in turn, assigned to a type.
A load support master record can be assigned to one of the following types:
These Load suppor types are used, among other things, to control the allocation of storage bins.
Please exercise caution when defining different types. There are restrictions, such as the rule that only identical load support types may be stored in a single bin location. If too many different load support types are defined, the bin location can no longer be used optimally.
The table displays all created load support master records with their corresponding properties.
You can create a new load support master record using the "New..." function button. Clicking "New..." opens the "New Loadsupport Master Record" dialog box. The following tabs are available here:
The "Master Data" tab is used to specify the basic master data for the Loadsupport master record.
The following fields are available here:
Under the "Status/Time" tab, you can assign a status to the LHM master record.
By default, the status of the load support master record is "active."
The following options are available:
The "Creation Date" and "Modification Date" fields are set by the system.
On the "Size" tab, you can specify the dimensions of the load support master record.
The following fields are available:
The "Edit..." function button allows you to edit the selected load support master record. Clicking "Edit..." opens the "Edit load support Master" dialog box. The tabs are identical to those in the "New..." function.
The "Delete..." function allows you to delete a load support master record. The deletion must be confirmed in the "Delete" dialog box. Clicking "OK" deletes the load support master record, while clicking "Cancel" cancels the deletion.
The preview area on the right side of the user interface displays all details for the selected load support master record in a vertical layout.
